Our Story

SHREWSBURY BEACONSFIELD CLUB

EST 1881

The oldest club in Shrewsbury is a well kept secret.  Following several moves in the town from Dogpole to Pride Hill, The Beaconsfield Club now sits proudly in Meadow Place.

In 1881 like-minded Shrewsbury gentlemen got together to establish The Beaconsfield Club.   It opened its doors in honour of Benjamin Disraeli who had represented the constituency as MP in the1800s

The Beaconsfield was initially established as a male only club.   In the 60s women were allowed to attend the club but were confined to a small lounge - no trespassing into the male dominated rooms!   By the 80s women were totally integrated into the club and now play a major role in its running.

The Beaconsfield Club has recently undergone a total refurbishment and is an ideal location to meet with friends, or indeed make new ones.  Enjoy a delicious home cooked meal, snack, beverage or a refreshing drink at the bar all at very competitive prices.

Your snooker skills can be honed in the snooker room of which there are three match play tables.

The Board Room can accommodate private meetings and the Disraeli function room is available for private parties:  we can cater for all occasions from formal functions to fun parties with buffets
